COURSES

Standard Course

Meiji Academy’s Standard Japanese Course is focused on communicative Japanese for daily life, travel and conversation. Classes are taught in small groups (typically 3–6 students) and emphasize interactive learning, practical speaking skills and real-world application. The curriculum covers grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking and writing, giving students the foundation to confidently use Japanese both inside and outside the classroom. Courses start every Monday throughout the year, making it flexible for short-term or extended study plans. Learners can also add extra modules such as business manners, pop culture or traditional culture activities to enrich their experience.

Intensive & Module Courses

In addition to the Standard course, Meiji Academy offers intensive study options and elective modules to suit different learning goals. Intensive courses combine core lessons with additional private sessions for more personalized study. Optional modules include Conversational Japanese, Japanese Business Manners, Traditional Culture (e.g., tea ceremony, kimono), and Japanese Pop Culture, allowing students to tailor their curriculum to interests and needs. These extra activities help reinforce language use in context and provide cultural immersion opportunities. Meiji Academy also supports working holiday students and gap year learners who want a structured but engaging Japanese learning experience.

ACCOMMODATION

Homestay

Meiji Academy can assist students in finding homestay accommodation with local host families in Fukuoka. Homestays offer private rooms and meals depending on the arrangement, and provide consistent opportunities to practice Japanese outside the classroom while learning about Japanese daily life and customs. Living with a host family enhances cultural understanding and helps students build conversational confidence quickly. This option is ideal for short-term learners or first-time visitors who want structured language support and an immersive lifestyle during their study period in Fukuoka.

Private Apartment / Shared Housing

For those who prefer independence, Meiji Academy supports placement in private apartments or shared housing near the campus and city center. Apartments offer complete privacy with personal kitchen and bathroom, while shared houses provide a social living environment with other international students. Both options are within easy reach of public transportation, shops and cultural sites in Fukuoka. Independent housing is popular among long-term students and working holiday holders who want the freedom to balance study with daily life in the city. Specific prices vary by room type, location and lease duration.
