Kyoto Minsai’s Long-Term Japanese Course provides structured language learning over one to two years, ideal for students aiming for academic advancement, JLPT preparation, university or vocational school entry. The curriculum covers comprehensive language skills and includes cultural classes, elective lessons and extracurricular activities such as tea ceremony clubs, speech contests and field trips. Students learn at multiple campuses, including Saiin, Tenjingawa and Nishikyogoku locations, with opportunities to work part-time (up to 28 hours per week) while studying. Kyoto Minsai also supports exam preparation for JLPT and EJU and offers guidance for future study and careers.

Short-Term Japanese Course

The Short-Term Japanese Course is designed for learners who want to study Japanese intensively while experiencing Japanese culture and daily life. Courses are available for 2–10 weeks with morning or afternoon classes from Monday to Friday and include weekly cultural field trips. The program is open to visitors on a tourist visa as well as residents in Japan, covering communicative Japanese from beginner to pre-advanced levels. With opportunities to learn alongside students from diverse backgrounds and explore Kyoto’s rich traditions, this course suits short-term visitors who wish to balance study with travel and cultural experiences.

ACCOMMODATION

Student Dormitory / Shared Housing

Kyoto Minsai Japanese Language School assists students in arranging student dormitories or shared housing near the school and campuses. These accommodations typically provide private or semi-private rooms with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities, fostering community living with peers. Living close to the school makes commuting easy and allows students to practice Japanese daily. Kyoto’s public transport and local shops are readily accessible, creating a comfortable and convenient student lifestyle. Pricing depends on room type, facilities and contract length, so students are advised to contact the school for the latest availability and rates.

Homestay / Private Apartment

For deeper cultural immersion, homestay placements with Japanese host families can be arranged, offering students a chance to practice Japanese daily and experience local customs. Homestays usually include a private bedroom and may offer meals, supporting language acquisition outside class. Alternatively, students may choose private apartments near Kyoto’s transport hubs and city center if they prefer independence. Both options allow learners to integrate into Japanese daily life and tailor their living situation to study needs and budget. Kyoto’s safe neighborhoods and rich cultural environment make housing comfortable and enriching for international students.
