WHAT DO YOU DO IN JAPAN?

I travel frequently to visit my partner’s family living in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture.

WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED IN JAPAN?

Being in Japan is quite a unique feeling. The culture itself is so unique, a country full of history and traditions. People’s personalities are something that catches my attention as well. Also, the food! Each Izakaya has a book as a menu, so extensive and unique dishes!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO STAY IN THIS CITY?

Morioka, IWATE. The environment of the city is so peaceful, people can talk and open to you in such a friendly way, feels like family! Quality Ryokans are available everywhere and convenient.

Admiring IWATE San from the distance is such a beautiful and memorable moment.

WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE IN THIS CITY?

The bridge crossing over the river and admiring the landscape with view of IWATE San. You can walk along and reach Odori Shopping Street and get the vintage vibe of shopping for second-hand items, as well as local handmade art crafts.

WHAT DID YOU ENJOY THE MOST WHILE STAYING ABROAD?

The freshness of the surroundings, the willingness of people to help when I was in trouble, the beautiful architecture, and the quality of food everywhere; even from the Konbini!

DID YOU EXPERIENCE ANY CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE AND FUTURE PROSPECTS AFTER YOU START YOUR JOURNEY?

Absolutely, I was able to handle my time better by making schedules/plans ahead. Be more patient and open my eyes to experience the unique traditions of a culture opposite to Mexican.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?

To open a coffee shop in Tokyo with Yuki, my partner, while interacting with Japanese people fluently in their language.

MESSAGE TO OUR FRIENDS WHO WILL GO TO JAPAN.

Be opened! Try anything you want here. We live once, leave the stereotypes and mindsets behind. Embrace the culture, read more about this beautiful country and enjoy!

HOW DO YOU LEARN JAPANESE?

I use flash cards with casual phrases in my daily conversations. Speak with people is essential, don’t be shy!

Mount Iwate

Mount Iwate, towering majestically over Iwate Prefecture in northern Japan, is a prominent stratovolcano that has captivated onlookers for centuries. Standing at 2,038 meters, it is affectionately known as “Nanbu Fuji” due to its resemblance to the iconic Mount Fuji, with a beautifully symmetrical shape. This mountain is not only a natural landmark but also a popular destination for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, offering a variety of trails that cater to different skill levels. The changing seasons bring distinct charms to Mount Iwate, from lush greenery in summer to vibrant autumn colors and snow-capped peaks in winter. Its scenic beauty and the challenge it presents to climbers make it a revered and inspirational feature of Japan’s landscape.
