Social interaction depends on the student’s lifestyle, but privacy and comfort are the top priorities with this choice.

Homestay
Fukuoka JaLS’s homestay option places students with Japanese host families suited to their goals, budget, and length of stay. Living with a local family creates daily opportunities to practice Japanese naturally while experiencing authentic Japanese lifestyle and customs. Homestays typically include breakfast and dinner and provide a single room, with shared bathroom and living facilities. Although privacy is lower and there may be house rules like curfews, this option is ideal for learners who want frequent interaction with native speakers and cultural immersion. Homes are usually 30–60 minutes by public transport from the school.
