COURSES

Practical & Cultural Japanese Course

Local Life Japan’s Practical & Cultural Japanese Course focuses on usable Japanese for everyday life, including speaking, listening, vocabulary and basic grammar. Classes are small and interactive, allowing personalized support from instructors and plenty of opportunities for communicative practice. Beyond lessons, students participate in cultural activities, local excursions and community events designed to reinforce learning in real-world contexts. This immersive approach helps students understand language in daily situations such as shopping, dining and socializing with locals. Programs run throughout the year with flexible durations, suitable for short-term learners who want authentic language use rather than just textbook study.

Teen & Seasonal Programs

Local Life Japan also offers Teen and Seasonal Programs aimed at younger learners during school holidays. These intensive programs provide daily language classes plus cultural immersions such as field trips, local craft experiences and group activities. Designed to help teens build confidence and practice Japanese in dynamic, engaging settings, these programs balance structured lessons with social interaction and cultural exploration. Students get to learn Japanese while forming friendships and experiencing life in a typical Japanese community. Seasonal programs are popular with international teens looking for an educational and enjoyable stay in Japan during summer or winter breaks.

ACCOMMODATION

Homestay

Local Life Japan supports homestay placements with Japanese families around Akashi. Homestays provide students with a private room and the opportunity to practice Japanese daily within a real home environment. Typically, meals such as breakfast and dinner are included, and families help students gain insight into Japanese daily life, customs and etiquette. This rental option enhances classroom learning by allowing students to use language in authentic contexts and build confidence outside school. Homestay is ideal for short-term students who want cultural immersion and conversational practice in daily situations.

Shared / Private Housing

Local Life Japan can also assist in finding shared housing or private apartments near Akashi Station for students who prefer independence. Shared housing typically offers private rooms with shared kitchens and living spaces, fostering social interaction and language practice with peers. Private apartments provide complete autonomy and are suited for longer stays or learners who value personal space. Either option ensures easy access to transportation, shops and local services and allows students to experience everyday life in a Japanese residential city. Students should contact the school for current availability and price details.

SCHOOL MESSAGE

With a background in Japanese, Chinese, and English, I understand the challenges of learning a new language in a new environment. I hold a Master’s degree from University College London’s Institute of Education, recognized as the world’s best education institute, and a teaching qualification from Cambridge. These qualifications, along with my personal journey, drive my passion for creating engaging language learning experiences. Having lived, studied, and worked in Japan, China, and the UK, I’ve learned that language is more than just words—it’s a bridge to understanding and connection. My journey began with Mandarin Chinese, followed by Japanese and English. Today, I’m fluent in all three, and I believe that mastering a language comes from immersing yourself in its culture, community, and daily life. At Local Life Japan, our mission is to provide you with that same immersive experience. Our curriculum blends modern teaching techniques with deep cultural integration, helping you reach your language goals in a fun and effective way. Whether you’re here for a week or for a year, we’re committed to making your experience meaningful, memorable, and transformative.
