Q&A

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

Italy

WHAT DO YOU DO IN JAPAN?

As an artist, my recent trip to Japan played a crucial role in shaping my creative journey.

Beyond the inspiration for my debut original manga, the experience infused my entire artistic process. Exploring Japan firsthand deepened my connection with art and creativity, influencing my work in ways that extend beyond the pages of my manga. This trip marks a significant chapter in my artistic evolution and i plan to return soon, fueled by the desire to weave the captivating elements of Japan into the fabric of my manga narrative.

WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED IN JAPAN?

Japan has held a special place in my heart since childhood. The rich culture and profound life philosophy have consistently fascinated me. As an artist specializing in manga and anime illustrations, Japan is more than just a source of inspiration – it’s a place where my art resonates and unfolds its own narrative. The magnetic connection between my creations and this culturally vibrant country fuels my ongoing fascination with Japan.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO STAY IN THIS CITY?

I had the pleasure of staying in several cities during my time in Japan, including Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Kanazawa, and more. Each city left a distinct impression, and I hold an appreciation for all of them. Tokyo captivated me with its vibrant atmosphere, rich cultural scenery, and the unique blend of traditional and modern vibes. On the other hand, Kanazawa won my heart with its ancient mystical atmosphere, traditional architecture, and an overall serene touch that seemingly transcends time, making it a place I would gladly revisit for its enchanting past-meets-present allure.

WHERE IS YOUR LOCAL RECOMMENDATION IN THIS CITY?

In Tokyo, a must-visit is Kanda Yabusoba in Chiyoda for unbelievably delicious soba – my personal favorite. Daytime adventures led me to the anime wonderland of Akihabara, exploring shops brimming with anime-related treasures and visiting spiritual sites like Senso Ji and the Meiji Shrine. Evenings in Shinjuku involved delightful street strolls and a quest for hidden whiskey bars nestled in the upper floors of towering buildings. In Kanazawa, the old geisha district and authentic samurai houses stole my heart, offering a glimpse into a bygone era filled with enchanting stories.

WHAT DID YOU ENJOY THE MOST WHILE STAYING ABROAD?

Just simply strolling around the streets and shrines wearing a kimono has been one of the most beautiful and thrilling experiences to me. It gave me serenity and made me feel the deepest connections with the country’s culture and traditions, and it made me feel more beautiful, like the best version of myself! It’s something I really do miss and that got me inspired a lot, even because I’m a manga artist and I draw kimono all the time.

DID YOU EXPERIENCE ANY CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE AND FUTURE PROSPECTS AFTER YOU START YOUR JOURNEY?

Undoubtedly, my journey in Japan has left an indelible mark on my heart, creating a profound longing that I humorously describe as ‘Japan sickness.’ The intense yearning to return stems from the deep inspiration gained and the extraordinary experiences lived. This longing not only fuels my artistic aspirations but also shapes my future prospects, compelling me to revisit and immerse myself once again in the enchanting world that is Japan.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?

My dream is to spend a significant part of the year in Japan, allowing the rich cultural tapestry to continuously inspire my art. The idea of creating amidst the vibrant energy of Japan fuels my passion, and I aspire to draw daily inspiration from the enchanting surroundings, contributing to the evolution of my artistic journey.
