WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED IN JAPAN?: When I was younger, my interest in Japan started when I watched my first anime and Japanese drama. I ended up falling in love with the language and the different cultural aspects of different parts of the country.
WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO STAY IN THIS CITY?: I saw one picture of Otaru in the snow and decided to come to Sapporo. I love snow, and Sapporo was just calling to me.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST WHILE STAYING ABROAD?: Meeting so many new people and having so many different experiences.
DID YOU EXPERIENCE ANY CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE AND FUTURE PROSPECTS AFTER YOU START YOUR JOURNEY?: Yes. I met my current fiancé/partner when I came to study at JaLS for the first time. I walked into his class, and the rest is history. We made so many new friends, which in turn made me keep coming back to JaLS to continue my studies. So far, I’ve been back 4 times and plan on coming back many more times.
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?: I would love to be good enough to use Japanese at work, maybe translate, or work for a company where I could be beneficial in knowing the Japanese. I don’t want it to go to waste.
MESSAGE TO OUR FRIENDS WHO WILL GO TO JAPAN.: Be respectful of the culture and society you choose to visit. But, be open to learning about everything new that you come across, and if you do that, everything will be a much more wonderful experience.
