WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

Japan

PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF!

I’m teaching Japanese that people can actually use in their daily lives in Japan! I am from Tokyo, have studied in Germany, and am currently based in Spain. I’m also a DJ / music producer:)

TELL US ABOUT THE CHARM OF THE CITY YOU ARE CURRENTLY LIVING IN.

We have a beach right next to the city center and everyone looks as if they are always on vacation! My routine is to walk along the beach after work and on weekends we do some hiking.

WHEN AND WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO TEACH JAPANESE?

I have been teaching language for 6 years since I was still a university student, because learning a foreign language lets you know more about outside of your own country and gives you a wider vision.

HOW ARE YOU TEACHING JAPANESE NOW?

I teach on SAYAS (sayasjapanese.com), my own online Japanese school. Additionally I teach on Instagram (saya_japanese_lessn) and YouTube (Saya’s Japanese Lesson)

WHAT DO YOU FIND ENJOYABLE ABOUT TEACHING JAPANESE?

When I can talk about more things with my students! Learning a language takes time but seeing my students learning in a very comfortable way with me and showing the progress little by little makes me very happy.

WHAT DO YOU FIND DIFFICULT ABOUT TEACHING JAPANESE?

What the Japanese textbooks teach and what we actually use in daily life is quite different. On my Instagram, I’m teaching only Japanese that they would hear once they are in Japan.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS IMPORTANT WHEN LEARNING JAPANESE?

Make yourself surrounded by Japanese! You can listen to Japanese songs when driving, set your phone in Japanese, and watch reels in Japanese. We don’t have to ‘study’ but we can learn in a very natural way!

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM?

I’m dreaming of making SAYAS a big community where people with a passion for Japan can share their knowledge, experience, or stories and make friends worldwide!

MESSAGE TO OUR FRIENDS WHO ARE STUDYING JAPANESE.

You may sometimes feel that it’s almost impossible to be able to speak in Japanese fluently, but no worries, I’ve seen my students getting better and better even though it’s very slow. Believe in the progress 🙂
